Sure, you’ve heard of horses, pigs, maybe even skeleton horses. But did you know there’s another force of nature that you can ride in style here in Valora? That’s right.

DRAGONS.

Deep within the poacher’s cave, a band of kobolds have captured 8 baby drakes of varying elements. The Dragon Trader on the bridge will give you one of 8 quests to slay the poachers and, in return, you’ll get to keep your chosen drake. You can only choose to complete ONE QUEST so choose carefully. (But if you hate your dragon I will reset it for you)

The initial plan here is to have the dragons start out as babies and grow as they gain experience. That functionality is not working and, after like 5 hours of troubleshooting, is not worth the pain anymore! Instead, when you complete the quest, you will gain access to both a pet version (baby) and a mount version (adult) of your chosen drake (for now).

You can access both with the /pets menu. In the next few days, more pets/mounts will be available for purchase. I’m giving everyone at least one flying mount just for completing the quest because it’s way too cool to restrict. I’ll also be adding a default ground mount later today. Please enjoy.

Flying mounts, ground mounts and pets will be available through special event quests periodically among other methods but the primary method of obtaining these purely cosmetic items will be through real money purchase. These model packs cost money & supporting the creators means spending it and I think spending it on cool dragons is a pretty good way to do it!

TIP: The Poacher’s Cave is at the edge of the restricted area, going south. If you follow the inconspicuous trail of campfires, you’re sure to find your way to it. Poachers are all over the cave, but there are more that spawn than you need to complete the quest. Each mob is on a 120 second timer. If you don’t have enough to kill, just wait a couple minutes.
