Date: 760 VT
Participants:
- Cedric Valenwood
- Wildguard
- Zaroth’s forces (corrupted wolves, twisted treants, dark sorcerers)
Cause: As Zaroth’s corruption spread throughout Valora following the Forging of the Triple Crown, the Eryndor Wilds became a target. Zaroth sought to corrupt the sacred groves and forests, turning them into blighted wastelands to sever the connection between the Valenwood family and nature.
Story:
Cedric Valenwood, patriarch of the Valenwood family, had long understood the deep connection between his family and the wilds they protected. The balance of nature had always been his guiding principle, but with Zaroth’s corruption creeping into the wilds, that balance was shattered. Reports of twisted creatures emerging from the forests soon reached Cedric, who immediately rallied the Wildguard, an elite defense force he had trained personally.
The wild creatures, once allies of the Valenwoods, had been transformed by Zaroth’s dark influence. Wolves now prowled the forests with red, glowing eyes and shadow-infused strength, while towering twisted treants, corrupted guardians of the forests, turned against their human protectors. Cedric and the Wildguard faced wave after wave of these twisted abominations, using their knowledge of the land and expert tracking skills to outmaneuver the corrupted forces.
In one of the most pivotal battles of the defense, Cedric faced a powerful dark sorcerer, a servant of Zaroth, who sought to use dark magic to accelerate the corruption of the Eryndor Wilds. In a fierce duel of both magic and physical combat, Cedric managed to defeat the sorcerer, temporarily halting the spread of corruption and giving his forces a much-needed respite. However, the victory came at a cost, as much of the once-beautiful forest had been scarred by the taint of Zaroth.
Outcome:
The Defense of the Eryndor Wilds was a hard-fought victory for Cedric Valenwood and his forces, but it was only a temporary reprieve. While they managed to hold off Zaroth’s corrupted creatures and protect key parts of the forest, the threat of corruption still loomed large, leaving the wilds forever changed. Cedric’s leadership during the battle solidified his legacy as a protector of Valora’s natural world, but the victory also served as a grim reminder that Zaroth’s power was far from defeated.
