Date: 750 VT
Participants:
- Vorthar Crimsonclaw
- Heads of the Goldheart, Silverwater, and Crimsonclaw families
- Zaroth the Eclipsed (awakening)
Cause: Following the Battle for Vorthar’s Keep, Vorthar Crimsonclaw abandoned diplomacy and sought absolute power over the realm. With the influence of Zaroth, Vorthar arranged a meeting with the heads of the great families, intending to seize control. His ultimate plan was to merge their crowns, containing the divine essence of Altharion, and forge an artifact of unparalleled power.
Story:
Vorthar, embittered by his recent losses, summoned the leaders of the Goldheart and Silverwater families under the guise of a peaceful negotiation. However, upon their arrival at Crimsonspire Keep, Vorthar’s true intentions were revealed. His guards forced the family heads to kneel before him, their fate sealed. With no hesitation, Vorthar beheaded them, remarking coldly, “I only needed their heads,” as he ripped the crowns from their bodies.
In a dramatic and macabre scene, Vorthar threw the three crowns into the blazing forge. As the crowns melted and fused, the divine essence of Altharion, embedded within each crown, combined. The forge’s flames sparked with pure magic as the essence of creation itself swirled within the new crown. At first, the light radiated with Altharion’s pure energy, illuminating the room in blinding brilliance. But this divine moment was short-lived.
Unbeknownst to Vorthar, his actions had also awakened Zaroth, the Shadowed God, who had secretly orchestrated the previous attacks, including the destruction of Vorthar’s Keep. As the Triple Crown formed, a dark force surged into the room. Zaroth’s corruption, which had been waiting for centuries, flooded into the crown, twisting its once-pure energy. The divine light was forced deep within the artifact, and the corruption took hold, transforming the Triple Crown into an object of darkness.
The newly forged Triple Crown, pulsing with corrupt power, immediately began to fuel Vorthar’s ambition. It enhanced his strength, but it also poisoned his mind, making him more ruthless, oppressive, and violent than before. Empowered by the dark magic, Vorthar imposed a brutal reign over Valora, subjugating the great families and spreading fear across the land. With the Triple Crown in his possession, his reign marked the beginning of the Shadowed Age, where Zaroth’s influence grew unchecked.
Outcome: The Triple Crown became a symbol of Vorthar’s tyranny, as the divine essence of Altharion was trapped deep within the corruption. Zaroth‘s awakening unleashed a new era of darkness upon Valora, with Vorthar acting as his unwitting puppet. The Shadowed Age began, plunging the world into chaos and setting the stage for the final battle between the great families and Zaroth.
