The Cycle of Greed (3000 BC)

Overview: The Cycle of Greed was one of the first creations by Altharion, designed to thrive on material wealth. These civilizations, however, were doomed by their greed, which led to internal strife and collapse. This event was pivotal in teaching Altharion about the destructive nature of unchecked ambition.

Date: 3000 BC

Participants:

  • Altharion – Creator of the civilizations

Cause: Altharion’s belief that prosperity based on wealth would sustain a flourishing society.

Story: Initially, the civilizations thrived, fueled by abundant resources. However, as wealth accumulated, rulers and people became obsessed with gathering more. Cities that once traded with each other began hoarding and vying for supremacy, leading to deep division. In-fighting broke out, and inequality spread, causing corruption within leadership. Eventually, these societies crumbled under the weight of their own greed. Civil wars broke out, and once-flourishing empires fell into decay. The cycle repeated across multiple worlds, with each falling faster than the last.

As the civilizations fell, pockets of dark corruption emerged, remnants of the greed that had consumed these societies. These dark forces began to grow, slowly following Altharion as he moved from one world to the next.

Outcome: The civilizations collapsed, leaving behind powerful pockets of corruption that would follow Altharion in his journey through space. This corruption was the first sign of the darkness that would eventually grow and take form as Zaroth.
