Cause: The Crimsonspire, seat of power for the Crimsonclaw family, had long been a target for rival factions due to its strategic and symbolic importance. In 320 VT, a powerful enemy force, eager to weaken the Crimsonclaws and take their stronghold, launched an all-out assault on Crimsonspire Keep.
Story:
The attack on Crimsonspire came suddenly. The enemy force, far larger than anticipated, surrounded the keep. Despite the Crimsonclaws’ reputation for strength and ferocity, the invaders’ numbers overwhelmed their defenses. Gareth Crimsonclaw, head of the family at the time, led the defense, but even his tactical prowess couldn’t hold off the siege for long.
With the walls crumbling and hope dwindling, Gareth stood atop the battlements and invoked the name of Altharion, praying for deliverance. As the enemy began breaching the outer defenses, the skies darkened unnaturally fast, and a rumble echoed through the mountains. Out of nowhere, a massive storm engulfed the battlefield—lightning crackled, striking enemy siege engines and scattering their ranks, while torrential rain and fierce winds halted their advance.
The storm seemed to obey the will of the Crimsonclaws, sparing their forces while devastating the invaders. Amidst the chaos, Gareth rallied his troops, leading a charge that pushed the remaining invaders back, forcing them to flee in disarray. With the help of Altharion’s storm, Crimsonspire Keep stood unscathed, and the invaders were utterly defeated.
Outcome: The Crimsonclaw family secured their stronghold, repelling the invaders and solidifying their reputation as warriors favored by the divine. The victory became legendary, further elevating the Crimsonclaws’ status in Valora. The storm was seen as a direct intervention from Altharion, cementing their belief that they fought with divine approval.
