Overview: In 650 VT, after centuries of guiding Valora, Altharion faced a critical choice: leave his perfect creation to preserve the people’s growth or die, weakened by his prolonged presence. Choosing the latter, Altharion instilled the last of his divine life essence into the three crowns worn by the heads of the great families, empowering them before disappearing into nothingness.
Date: 650 VT
Participants:
- Altharion
- The heads of the Goldheart, Silverwater, and Crimsonclaw families
Cause: Altharion realized that his constant presence was stifling the evolution and growth of Valora’s people. As his strength waned, the corruption that had trailed him throughout the cosmos continued to grow, slowly creeping into the world he had created. Altharion understood that to remain would be to risk his death and further corruption spreading into Valora.
Story:
The decision was a painful one. Altharion, who had poured his heart into Valora and watched over it for centuries, knew that he could no longer shield the people without weakening further. He gathered the three great family leaders—Goldheart, Silverwater, and Crimsonclaw—and in a solemn ceremony, imbued the last of his life force into their crowns. This final act granted the three families divine protection and long life, ensuring their continued stewardship of Valora.
As his divine light faded, Altharion’s body dissolved into nothingness, leaving behind a world imbued with his essence but now free to grow on its own.
Outcome: Altharion’s departure marked the end of the Golden Age and the beginning of a time of uncertainty. The three great families became the true guardians of Valora, their crowns now containing the last remnants of Altharion’s power. His disappearance also set the stage for the Age of Divergence, as the corruption began to make its presence felt more strongly in the absence of Valora’s divine protector.
